As of June 30, 2023, our vaccine program has been officially discontinued. Thankfully, these vaccines are more widely available at community pharmacies and other venues:

RISE, a program of JRI Health, is a multi-service integrated community prevention program offering health and social services to people in the Metro West area. Our services include free Counseling & Testing for HIV, Viral Hepatitis and STIs; PrEP & PEP; treatment for STIs and HCV; Medical and Housing Case Management for people living with HIV; HIV Peer Support Services; Harm Reduction & Overdose Prevention Services; and Community Education, Trainings and Outreach. We believe that all people – of all races, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, education and income levels, ages, languages, religions, and geographic locations – should have the opportunity to live healthy lives.

At RISE, we continue to support our clients and remain open five (5) days a week (Mon-Fri). Our current service hours are:

Monday 8:00am-4:00pm

Tuesday 8:00am-7:00pm

Wednesday 8:00am-7:00pm

Thursday 8:00am-7:00pm

Friday 8:00am-4:00pm 

Clients walking/dropping in are asked to call ahead (if possible) and will be scheduled and seen as long as an appointment is available. In many cases, walk/drop-ins will be accommodated based on the client’s needs and appointment availability. Testing may not be offered within 90 minutes of closing time. 

Face masks are optional. If you do not have a mask, one can be provided. Hand sanitizer is available throughout the space, and surfaces are regularly disinfected.

FREE Safer Sex and Harm Reduction Materials. We will continue to provide access to safer sex and harm reduction materials to people in the MetroWest via mail for people unable to come to RISE. Please complete and/or share the following online form to request materials: http://tiny.cc/risesupplyrequest.  

HIV, STI, Viral Hepatitis, and Sexual Health Services. For questions about HIV, STI, and Viral Hepatitis sexual health services, including to schedule HIV testing, Viral Hepatitis testing, STI screening and treatment or PEP & PrEP services, please email Aron Thiim (he/él) at athiim@jri.org or call 508-935-2960. If you need to speak with the Nurse Practitioner, need a prescription refill, or have insurance questions, please email Patti Parker (she/her) at pparker@jri.org. When emailing, please provide your name and number for a call back or return email.  If you have symptoms of acute HIV infection or believe you’ve had a potential HIV exposure, please call 508-935-2960 within 72 hours of possible exposure to access nPEP (post-exposure prophylaxis). If you need safer sex materials (e.g., barriers and lube), please complete this request form: http://tiny.cc/risesupplyrequest or come to our office to pick up materials.  

HIV Case Management. For questions about HIV Case Management, please email Becca Nupp (she/ella), Program Manager for HIV Client Services, at rnupp@jri.orgCase managers are in constant contact with all their clients and continue to deliver services virtually, via phone and by appointment. They are making arrangements for in-office appointments and home visits, as needed. If you’re a new client (or looking to refer a new client), please call 508-935-2960 and ask for the HIV Case Management Team to coordinate the intake process.

Harm Reduction Services. Our Harm Reduction staff are working hard to help minimize unintentional overdoses and continue to provide syringe services and Narcan to our community in person at our office, via home or program doorstep drop off, and via online request (http://tiny.cc/risesupplyrequest). Harm Reduction staff are providing substance use prevention and harm reduction counseling sessions for enrolled clients by phone and via video chat. Transportation assistance is available for in-person visits. If you are in need of tools to support overdose prevention and harm reduction practices during the outbreak, please call 508-935-2960 or email Sarah Fleming (she/her), Program Manager of Harm Reduction Services at snfleming@jri.org.

LGBTQ+ Services (Framingham GLASS). Activities for LGBTQ+ youth at Framingham GLASS have discontinued. Framingham GLASS is no longer active on social media (@framinghamglass on Facebook and Instagram). However, Boston GLASS in Jamaica Plain is open Monday-Friday with weekly programming and drop-in hours. Visit @boston_glass on Instagram to stay connected to ongoing services and conversations.  

Peer support services. Individual one-on-one check-ins are available to community members living with HIV.  Call 508-935-2960 or email Donald McKay (he/him) at dmckay@jri.org, or for Spanish speakers, Angel Machicote (he/él) at amachicote@jri.org.

HIV Housing Case Management. Housing Case Managers for people living with HIV will continue to meet one-on-one with clients via phone, through video chats or in-person appointments in the office when necessary. Please reach out to your case manager directly or call 508-935-2960 to schedule an appointment.

Medical transportation. If you need medical transportation, call your case manager at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment. Leave a message with pick-up time, pick-up location, destination, expected return time, and your phone number. You may also call 508-935-2960 for Uber Health rides. We will contact you once transportation with JFK Taxi or Uber Health is confirmed.

HIV, HCV & STI Counseling, Testing & Treatment

Program RISE offers free testing for HIV, Hepatitis C, Syphilis, Chlamydia & Gonorrhea. Our walk-in hours without an appointment are 8:30 AM - 2:30 PM Monday and Friday, and 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (last availability for testing is 90 minutes before program closing). 

We offer free treatment for anyone testing positive for chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis or hepatitis C (HCV). For anyone who tests positive for HIV, we will help navigate you to a health care provider for treatment. 

HIV Case Management

Case management links people living with HIV/AIDS with healthcare, insurance, benefits, housing, and related programs. At Program RISE, case managers work with clients to assess needs, develop individual service plans, and coordinate services needed to follow the plan.

PrEP & PEP

PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis), is a once-daily pill that reduces the risk of acquiring HIV. Program RISE prescribes PrEP and can assist with insurance application, navigating services, adherence, and other support services. If you would like to reduce HIV transmission, you may contact our offices and one of our staff members can do all the necessary testing prior to providing PrEP prescription. PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis) means taking medication within 72 hours of a possible or known HIV exposure to help prevent infection. If a person has had an HIV exposure (unprotected sex, exposure to semen, blood, and or vaginal fluid), you might want to consider PEP to reduce the risk of HIV transmission. Program RISE can help clients enroll in PEP same-day. 

Overdose Prevention and Harm Reduction Services

The program uses a Harm Reduction model. We believe that there is inherent dignity in everyone, and everyone deserves to be treated with care, and respect, regardless of their circumstances. People with a substance use addiction are overdosing from opioid and this calls for a non-judgmental, non-coercive provision of services to the communities in which people who use dugs live in order to assist people in reducing associated harm.

We dispense Narcan, an emergency treatment that can save the life of someone overdosing. We also provide training on how to use Narcan.

Program RISE has a safe used needle drop-off collection bin and also has free harm reduction items, such as; clean needles, tourniquets, bleach & water bottles, and other items that can reduce harm to themselves and others.

The Overdose Prevention and Harm Reduction Programs offers:

  • Overdose Prevention Counseling and Prevention Techniques
  • Post-Overdose Follow-up visit to people’s homes to connect people to care or harm reduction services
  • Routine HIV, STI, and Viral Hepatitis counseling, testing, as well as treatment for STIs
  • Short-term health navigation
  • Transportation services to treatment

Rachel has been a part of the JRI team since January, 2000. For over 20 years, Rachel has been working in the field of human services assisting families with accessing and navigating services. Rachel received her Bachelors degree in psychology and Masters Degree in Public Administration from Bridgewater State University. She was promoted in July 2005 to Family Networks Program Director where she closely worked with the Department of Children Families for 10 years ensuring that children and families received the highest quality of individualized services ranging from community based through residential care. Rachel is very dedicated to helping the individuals she works with and is committed to improving the lives of children and families. Rachel’s passion for creative service programming inspires her in her role as JRI Service Navigator.
