Consulting with Sexual Minorities Uganda
In 2010 Realize Resources staff began a pro-bono consulting relationship with Frank Mugisha, the executive director of Sexual Minorities Uganda (SMUG), an umbrella organization advocating for the rights of LGBTI (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex) people in Uganda. Mr. Mugisha has been honored by the United Nations Office of the High Commission for Human Rights as a human rights defender and was quoted by the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon for his call for UN help to decriminalize homosexuality world wide.
We assisted Mr. Mugisha in honing his message delivery as he travels around the world raising awareness and seeking allies among faith communities, civil society and government organizations to help stop the anti-homosexuality bill, which calls for life imprisonment and the death penalty for gay people in Uganda.
You can support SMUG at JRI's website and write “donate to SMUG” in the comment box.
Collaboration for Sustainable Results
Since 2007, Realize Resources has continued worked on efforts to build the capacity of those serving Uganda’s orphans and vulnerable children. Our project work includes:
Namugongo Fund for Special Children (NFSC)
Realize Resources has partnered with NFSC, an HIV service agency outside Kampala that serves orphans and vulnerable children, to build the SUCCESS coalition of 11 small agencies serving villages outside Kampala. Realize Resources provided training and technical assistance for these agencies that helped them develop capacity both individually and as a coalition to deliver services, identify and mobilize community resources and plan for the future.
