Connecting with Communities
Since 2002, the Realize Resources team has supported projects serving Puerto Rican leaders, community members, and health care workers residing in Puerto Rico or elsewhere in the United States. Examples of this work includes:
La Conexión al Cuidado de Salud (Connecting to Care)
This training, developed by Realize Resources, has been delivered in San Juan and Rincon to urban and rural community-based agencies across Puerto Rico and has helped staff from the participant organizations in connecting people living with HIV to appropriate medical care.
Workshop Series for Latinos/as Living With HIV
In 2009 and 2010 we developed and delivered a series of workshops funded by the Latin American Health Institute. Participants in each of the 90-minute workshops were predominantly Puerto Ricans living with HIV in the Boston area. Topics in the series included; HIV Medications Overview, Drug Interactions Between Recreational Drugs and HIV Medications, Communicating with Pharmacies, Doctors and Medical Teams, Grieving the Loss of Loved Ones, Depression and HIV, Finances and Budgeting, Nutrition and HIV, Anger Management, and HIV Stigma.
Boundaries and Ethics Training
In 2006 we developed a Spanish-language training geared to helping Puerto Rican staff manage and respond to potential boundary and ethical issues which commonly arise when a person works within his or her own tight-knit community.
