Located in Brookline, MA, the Trauma Center's outpatient clinic offers screening and referral, comprehensive evaluation and psychological testing, and individual, group and family psychotherapy for children and adults.
In addition, the Center provides on-site services to a number of schools, homeless and domestic violence shelters, community centers and transitional housing programs throughout Greater Boston. The Center also provides select free care services including on-site bilingual trauma services for individuals of Hispanic descent at the Latin American Health Institute in Boston. The Trauma Center offers consultation and supervision for mental health providers, child sexual abuse evaluations, psychopharmacological consultation and intensive inpatient assessment of traumatized adults, select forensic evaluation services, and trauma-informed neuropsychological evaluation.
Clinical practice at the Center is informed by a systemic approach to phase-oriented trauma intervention conducted within a developmental, strengths-based framework. Emphasis is placed on developing and evaluating evidence-based psychosocial intervention and treatment strategies that help traumatized individuals overcome disconnection and helplessness, restore functioning, and enhance quality of life. Specific treatment modalities employed at the clinic include cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, interpersonal and somatic psychotherapies, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, and structured expressive arts therapies including use of improvisational theater, music, movement, narrative and cooperative play techniques.
