Led by the Trauma Center's founder, Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, the Center maintains an active clinical research program. This program is guided by the philosophy that research should be informed by, and conducted for the sake of improving, clinical practice. The Center's research program emphasizes the development and evaluation of innovative assessment measures and intervention models for complex trauma.

Current projects include a yoga intervention outcome study for traumatized adults, a neuropsychological study of hemispheric specialization in adult victims of childhood trauma, and two improvisational theater based youth violence prevention program development and evaluation studies.
