Cresson Treatment Program is an educational treatment center for adolescents who have failed to progress in less intensive programs. Cresson offers four 13-bed residential areas with shared school and treatment facilities. Each residential "community" provides sleeping, recreation, and dining areas for the residents. Cresson uses a cognitive behavioral treatment approach. Two of the four communities provide more intensive psychological services and an especially supportive environment in order to serve boys who are emotionally disturbed. Although the requirements are demanding, staff guidance and support of social learning are emphasized, and ratios of staff to residents allow effective intervention.
Cresson provides a very progressive educational program that has allowed more than 100 boys over a 3-year period to graduate from high school, while several boys are doing college work and receiving credit as they move on.
Cresson Treatment Program approaches resident treatment with a holistic approach. The residents at Cresson Treatment Unit achieve knowledge and growth through individual counseling sessions, group therapy, team-building lessons, community service projects and numerous other beneficial means. They each participate in community service projects and others tasks. Finally, they learn to accept responsibility and learn competencies so upon their release they can be viable, well educated members of a healthy community.
Cresson is licensed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and is COA-accredited.
The average length of stay is less than 12 months.
