This program provides comprehensive residential services in homes for Rhode Island adults with developmental disabilities. The project is designed to set a new standard of care for individuals with clinically challenging profiles. Our methodology is primarily reliant on a cognitive/behavioral model, integrated with the principles of Dialectical Behavioral Treatment, and adapted to the person with cognitive limitations. Highly trained, caring staff provide intensive support, ensuring that community integration takes place in a safe and appropriate manner.
From the natural supports of their peer network to the social and recreational opportunities of their community, individuals supported by JRI develop rich relationships, diverse interest, and rewarding activities that promote individual growth and development. Individuals in our services and support system receive individually designed supports and services that focus on outcomes identified by the individual with the involvement of his or her family or guardian. These outcomes may include a variety of goals and desires of the individuals and often translate into developing the skills and supports into community, work, and social settings. Often, individuals desire to attain independence in self-care skills, decision-making their homes, budgeting, managing health care services, medication, community access and transportation, developing friendships, and many other aspirations.
